Cyclone Fani Fundraiser
Cyclone Fani was the severest storm to hit India in the last twenty years. Its monster winds had gusts reaching 240 km per hour. The cyclone made a landfall near Jagannath Puri on May 3rd, 2019, and ran over Bhubaneshwar, ripping roofs of homes. It inflicted major damage to Bhubaneshwar Airport, breaking glasses and shearing canopies.
Unfortunately, Swamiji’s ashram in Odisha, including Naturopathy Hospital (www.natural-cure) and beautiful JKU campus, lay directly on the path of Cyclone Fani. It was pounded by the peak gusts of the cyclone for over 4 hours, as the ferocious winds wreaked extensive damage to the beautiful campus. About 1000 feet of boundary wall collapsed, tin roofs of storage sheds got ripped off, and windows and doors were shattered. 8 electric poles fell, snapping the cable lines, and about fifty trees were uprooted.
Urgent and extensive relief work will have to be undertaken at the 100 acre campus. JKYog appeals to all devotees to donate generously for the cause. Let us join hands to gather the Rupees 1 crore (150,000 USD) required to get the campus back to normal
In the past, JKYog has been prompt in launching relief drives for disaster relief in India and USA. This time, it is our own ashram and community in Odisha that needs your support.
